Sasa Karadzic returned to action after 18 months out due to a serious cruciate ligament injury and helped Wolves defeat West Ham United in the Carabao Cup at Molineux on Tuesday night.  

The Austrian striker was unfortunately injured while on loan at Frankfurt last February and missed the entire last season. But now he has overcome the shadow of injury with a positive attitude and came on as a substitute in the third round of the league, winning a key position for Wolves.  

Talking about his comeback from injury, Sasha Karadzic said: "Although I have been away from the court for a long time, I am very happy to be back here again. Everyone knows how difficult this experience is, but I always try to find the positive side."  

"My baby was born a week before I got injured, which gave me more time to focus. I made the most of that time and we are now looking forward to the future. I am very grateful to all my teammates for their support over the past 18 months. I would especially like to thank the medical team and the fitness department for their dedication to my recovery. I am truly grateful."  

"I'm very happy, but ultimately I think the real motivation has to come from within. If you don't have that drive, then no amount of external encouragement will help. However, I do have a lot of support from my teammates."  

Regarding helping the team win the game, Sasha Karadzic said: "It was a difficult game. We were behind 1-2 at one point, but I was very excited to be able to come back and win in the end. The team's victory always makes everything a lot easier, which makes me very happy."  

"It was a crucial win and I'm proud of the team's performance and happy for Jürgen Strand-Larsen. I think having two tall players up front is a good tactical option. It's a combination you don't see often these days, but it can work at times."  

"It was a valuable experience for me, although it was challenging. I know I wasn't in great shape for a while, but things are getting better now."  

"I think we can certainly be happy with the win and relax a bit in the next few days. But from then on, we have to focus all our energy on Saturday's league match because in the end the league is what matters most."
