According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday, the Utah Jazz will sign guard Baze Mben to a two-year standard NBA contract. However, another reporter, Sarah Todd, offered a different opinion, believing Mben's contract will only last until the end of this season.

The 23-year-old Mben played for the Yale Bulldogs in NCAA Division I during his college years and was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year for three consecutive years. After going undrafted in June 2025, he chose to join the Miami Heat's G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Mben played 30 regular season games for the Sioux Falls Skyforce this season, averaging 6.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.0 steals in 28.9 minutes per game, with a 45.0% field goal percentage. He joined the Jazz in March on a 10-day contract and subsequently signed a 10-day extension.

To date, Mben has played 11 regular season games for the Jazz, averaging 5.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals in 29.9 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 42.9%. Given Mben's consistent performance throughout the regular season, the Jazz ultimately decided to offer him a standard contract.

With Mbappé's signing, the Jazz will have 14 players on full-season or multi-year contracts. The 15th roster spot is expected to be taken by Kennedy Chandler, who signed a 10-day contract.
