According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers immediately dismissed Joey Buss and Jesse Buss from their management positions after completing the ownership change. As part of restructuring their basketball operations, they also laid off most of their scouting staff.

Joey Buss (41 years old) and Jesse Buss (37 years old) are the two youngest brothers of Jeanie Buss (64 years old), the current honorary president and general manager of the Lakers. They previously served as vice president and head of research and development, and assistant general manager, respectively. Over the past decade, they have played key roles in the Lakers' scouting system, successfully discovering players such as Austin Reeves, Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., and Max Christie.

It is understood that the two were dismissed because they voted against Jeanie Buss' decision to sell a majority stake in the Lakers to Mark Walter, CEO and Chairman of TWG Global. However, a Lakers spokesperson did not comment further.

Regardless, Joey and Jesse directly blamed Jeanie Buss for their forced departure from the Lakers. In a statement to ESPN, the brothers said, "We have been incredibly honored to be a part of this team for the past 20 seasons. Thank you to the Lakers fans for their support and acceptance of our family all this time. We so wish our time with the team could have ended differently. At this moment, we wish we could ask our father how he feels about all of this."

"Dr. Buss (Jerry Buss) envisioned a future where Joey and I would co-manage basketball operations. However, Jeanie Buss successfully consolidated her position by firing her siblings."

Charania further pointed out that Joey and Jesse will retain their minority stakes in the Lakers. The two also announced the formation of Buss Sports Capital, an investment firm aimed at exploring acquisition and partnership opportunities in the global sports industry, in September of this year.

As for their sister, Jeanie Buss, she will continue to serve as a key figure in the Lakers for the foreseeable future.
