TA: Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. is almost certain to leave the team before the trade deadline.

According to a report by TA reporter John Hollinger on Saturday, Michael Porter Jr.'s departure before the trade deadline is almost a certainty. A reliable league source told him that the Nets plan to cash in on Porter Jr. while he is in his prime and his trade value is at its peak, in order to maximize the team's interests.
Porter Jr., 27, is a 2.08-meter tall, 99-kilogram forward who was selected 14th overall in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft by the Denver Nuggets. He played for the Nuggets for six seasons, appearing in 345 regular season games, averaging 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, and won the 2023 NBA championship with the team.
In July 2025, Porter Jr. was traded to the Brooklyn Nets by the Denver Nuggets as part of the Cameron Johnson trade, along with a first-round pick (in 2031). To date, he has played 29 regular-season games for the Nets, averaging 25.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals in 33.1 minutes per game, with a 49.0% field goal percentage and a 39.7% three-point percentage.
