Tomas Soucek admitted that although the result was disappointing, the players' performance on the field was still commendable.

Tomas Soucek believes West Ham United were treated unfairly in their 2-5 defeat to Liverpool. Prior to this, West Ham had won three and lost one of their six Premier League matches, arriving at Anfield in good form and displaying confidence and strength at times. However, they conceded three goals from corner kicks in the first half, two of which deflected off the ground, putting them in a very difficult position.

At the start of the second half, Tomas Soucek, with his signature forward run, broke into the penalty area and scored at Anfield, pulling one back for West Ham and reigniting the team's confidence. However, defensive errors led to Liverpool extending their lead. Tati Castellanos then headed in a goal, making it 4-2 and briefly rekindling hopes of a comeback. Unfortunately, Axel Disasi inadvertently scored an own goal, effectively sealing the victory.

After the match, Tomas Soucek said: "This result is indeed hard to accept because the score looks very bad, but I don't think the players' performance on the field was like that. I want to talk about the first half first. We conceded three goals from set pieces, which shouldn't have happened. It was these set pieces that got us into trouble. We scored two goals, but we had chances to score more, maybe even five."

“Playing at Anfield is always challenging, but we were well prepared and maintained good form in training. We believed we could take points here, but unfortunately we couldn’t today. However, I think there are still positive aspects to learn from this game. The upcoming away game against Fulham is even more crucial for us.”

“Sometimes the game doesn’t go as planned, and everything seems to be against us. Although we created several chances, and the score was once close to 4-3, and we even saw hope of winning again, the final result was not on our side. However, we can still look back at the team’s performance and see how everyone gave their all and fought until the last moment, even though the outcome was not ideal.”

“Therefore, I have great confidence in the players’ performance. I believe we are ready and are currently fighting with all our might to get out of the relegation zone. Getting out of the relegation zone is our goal, and we are eager for it. I also believe that even this game will help us.”

For Tomas Soucek, who has already scored 40 Premier League goals, scoring at this historic stadium should have been a cause for celebration, but the bitterness of defeat overshadowed the joy of the moment. He said: "As a player, of course I'm happy to score, and I had my moments at Anfield today. But I always value the result and points more, and we failed to do that today, so I'm ultimately disappointed."

“I must express my gratitude to the fans; their support has been outstanding. Despite Liverpool being so far away, they still came all the way to cheer us on. I hope they will give us the same support against Fulham, because we really need their strength. We will fight to the very end in the name of West Ham United.”
