Tottenham Hotspur announced on Thursday that Daniel Levy has officially stepped down as executive chairman after nearly 25 years.

Levy, 63, has been Tottenham's chairman since 2001. His achievements include overseeing the club's move to a new stadium and modernizing its training center. During this time, Tottenham has qualified for European competitions 18 times, including winning the Europa League in 2025.

However, Levy's reign was also marked by controversy, with fans generally dissatisfied with his limited transfer spending and failure to continuously upgrade the squad, ultimately leading to the departure of their star player Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

Levy's departure sparked speculation about the future of the club's ownership, with some suggesting that the family of Joe Lewis, Tottenham's largest shareholder, might be paving the way for a potential sale. However, several prominent British media outlets refuted this, emphasizing that the Lewis family has no intention of selling its shares and is focused on the long-term future of Tottenham. A source close to the Lewis family even described the move as the beginning of a "new era" for Tottenham, one focused on prioritizing competitive achievement.

Levy's departure follows several senior appointments at Tottenham Hotspur: Vinai Venkatesham has been appointed Chief Executive, Thomas Frank has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the men's team, and Martin Ho has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the women's team. Peter Charrington has also joined the board of directors in the newly created role of Non-Executive Chairman.
