Totti Gomes is one of the key figures in Wolves' squad under coach Vitor Pereira and one of the team's longest-serving players. He is determined to lead the team forward in the upcoming 2025-26 Premier League season.  

The defender first joined Wolves five years ago and over time he has become one of the key figures in the Molineux dressing room and his influence on and off the pitch has grown. Last month, in the match against Crystal Palace, Totti Gomes made his 100th appearance for Wolves and wore the captain's armband for the first time to lead the team.  

With the 2024-25 campaign drawing to a close, the defender admitted that this was one of the toughest mental tests he has endured in his career. Totti Gomes hopes that the positive state of the team since Vitor Pereira's arrival can continue into the upcoming new season.  

Totti Gomes said: "Last season was different because we changed head coaches twice. The team experienced some fluctuations at the beginning and end of the season under different coaching teams. Although we had many positive ideas and plans at the beginning of the season, the overall progress was not as expected and the start was not ideal. "  

"We needed to make changes, but things started to improve with the arrival of Vitor Pereira. The end of the season was different than anyone expected. Before that, we were expected to be relegated.  

"In general, the key is not how the game starts, but how it ends. We finished the season much better than we started it and we hope to continue this good form into next season."  

"At some point we realised that if we didn't adjust, relegation would be inevitable and that scared us. That started to affect our mentality and that had a lasting effect. Our approach has changed since Vitor Pereira came in. He started to adjust everything and made us believe that things could still be improved."  

"Since his first game, we've been winning , the team is getting better and better, with each game improving steadily. Now there are only five games left to the end of the season, and everything is basically settled."  

"I have played many games with Vitor Pereira and I am very happy. I have always played as a left center back, and we have tried to implement the tactical ideas he conveyed in training into the game. It is very beneficial to maintain a certain competition between various positions, not just center back, but other positions as well. I believe that competition can stimulate the potential of players. For me, I just hope to get a chance to play and contribute to the team with all my strength."  

"On the defensive end, we have a deep understanding of each other. Agba joined at the beginning of the season and quickly showed excellent performance. Since he joined, we have continued to support each other and maintained good communication, which is very beneficial to both of us. Having such a team that helps each other and understands each other makes our defense more advantageous."  

Totti Gomes also said: "We have not yet set specific goals for next season, but what is certain is that the team will become stronger under the guidance of Vitor Pereira and achieve some positive breakthroughs."
