Vitor Pereira has suggested that Wolves relied more on will than strategy against Brighton and Hove Albion, an approach that ultimately cost them defeat at Molineux.
Brighton scored one goal in each half, while Wolves missed several good chances and eventually suffered their first home defeat since February. Vitor Pereira said he will focus on correcting his and his team's mistakes in the game this week to ensure they have a stronger performance in the last two rounds of the Premier League.
"For me, this game can be divided into two different phases," said Vitor Pereira. "In the first half we gave it our all and created some chances, but we lacked precision in the finishing touch and the final pass, and we also made one or two mistakes."
“We tried to turn the situation around in the second half and put in a lot of effort, but our overall organization was a little lacking and our performance still needs to be improved. The game became more unpredictable and the situation was very open. Facing a strong opponent, we were easily hit by their counterattacks. Although we had a chance to score before the score was 1-1, the opponent finally secured the victory and scored the second goal.”
"We gave our all in the second half but lacked the intelligence to control the tempo of the game, and it became a quick transition between attack and defence. We had chances to attack but also lost goals. This kind of game is not what I like because it is too unpredictable. In the end, the other team took advantage of our mistakes and deserved to win."
“Of course, at the time I wasn’t happy with the performance. We did try to do some things to strengthen the team’s connection and increase the pressure to try to cause problems for the opponent. However, in the end we could have done better, especially considering we could have played better than we did in the second half. Now it’s time to make the necessary adjustments tactically and mentally.”
“This is where we need to improve, not just tactically but mentally as well. In the last game against Manchester City I saw a well-organised, attacking and energetic team. However, we haven’t finished the task for the whole season. We need to maintain this level and go for the three points in the next two games.”
"We keep the same energy, we know exactly what we did well and what needs to be improved. Next, we will analyze every game and every training session with the same spirit. I like to reflect on myself and I like to evaluate my team because these are things we can control."
