Leeds United officially announced that 27-year-old midfielder Sean Longstaff transferred from Newcastle United to join the team and signed a four-year contract, becoming the team's fifth new signing this summer.

Longstaff is a product of Newcastle United's youth training. Since making his first appearance for the first team in 2018, he has made more than 200 appearances for Newcastle United in all competitions.

Last season, Longstaff played 25 games in the Premier League and had a brilliant performance in the Champions League, including a goal against Paris Saint-Germain in a 4-1 victory in the group stage. He was also an important member of Newcastle United's League Cup victory, ending a 70-year championship drought.

In an exclusive interview with Leeds United TV, Longstaff expressed his anticipation for joining his new club: "I played here when I was a kid, when I was only nine or ten years old. Now I am really excited to be back here and participate in the club's future plans."

"Sometimes, a team that really wants you makes you more confident and wants to repay that trust. I'm not someone who would leave Newcastle United lightly, but this is the right place for me and my family."

Talking about his impression of the team, Longstaff said: "Leeds is a vibrant and entertaining team. Every time I came here to play, the atmosphere in the stadium was incredibly warm. Now I am very happy to finally be on the home side of this stadium."
