In the 29th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season, Arsenal traveled to Brighton for an away game. They ultimately won a hard-fought 1-0 victory, extending their unbeaten run in away matches across all competitions to 12 games.
Just four minutes into the game, Carlos Baleba unleashed a dangerous long-range shot from the edge of the box, but Gabriel Magalhães cleared the ball off the line to keep Arsenal's goal intact. Having escaped a close call, Arsenal immediately launched a counter-attack and got off to a dream start in the 9th minute: Bukayo Saka cut inside to the right side of the penalty area and curled a shot that deflected off Baleba, catching Brighton goalkeeper Bart Februlgen off guard.
However, the game then entered a prolonged stalemate. Both sides didn't resume their attacking play until the second half, but neither created any clear scoring opportunities: In the 57th minute, Saka dribbled across the left side of the penalty area and unleashed a shot that went over the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Diego Gomez headed the ball across the box, and Giorginho Ruttel's long-range shot was saved by David Raya. In the 63rd minute, Jankuba Mint delivered a cross from the right side of the penalty area at a 45-degree angle, and Mats Weaver's header went straight into Raya's arms. In the 69th minute, Jan Paul Van Heck's long pass found Jack Hinschelwood in the penalty area, whose header again went just wide.
In the 74th minute, Julien Timber delivered a cross from the right side of the penalty area, but Leandro Trossard's shot went wildly wide. In the 88th minute, Trossard sent a lobbed pass from midfield, and Kai Havertz broke into the left side of the penalty area before his low shot was brilliantly saved by Februlgen. Neither side managed to score again, and the final score remained 1-0.
After this match, Arsenal maintains their top spot with a record of 20 wins, 7 draws, and 3 losses, accumulating 67 points. Brighton's record, however, is 9 wins, 10 draws, and 10 losses, causing them to drop to 13th place.
