The Golden State Warriors officially announced on Monday that they have signed Malevi Lyons to a two-way contract. As a result, they waived Alex Tooshe to free up a roster spot.
The official announcement also confirmed that Lyons will wear the Warriors' number 33 jersey.
Lyons, 26, is a 2.06-meter tall, 95-kilogram power forward who played for the Bradley University Warriors in NCAA Division I during his college years. He entered the 2024 NBA Draft but was ultimately not selected.
During the 2024/25 season, Lyons played between the Oklahoma City Thunder and their G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue. He played six regular-season games for the Thunder, averaging only 0.3 points, 0.5 rebounds, and 0.2 assists in 3.5 minutes per game.
In contrast, Lyons performed better in the G League. He played 25 games for Oklahoma City Blue, averaging 13.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 48.9% and a three-point percentage of 40.4%.
As for Alex Toussaint, who was waived by the Warriors, he was already out for the rest of the season due to knee surgery. As the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the 2025 draft, Toussaint had only played two games for the Warriors' G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, averaging 7.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 19.6 minutes per game.
