NBA official: Warriors star Curry won the best teammate award this season

The NBA officially announced on Monday that Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry won the 2024/25 season "Twyman-Stokes" Teammate of the Year Award. This is the first time Curry has won this award in his career. He previously won the NBA Sports Ethics Award in the 2010/11 season.

The Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award was established in the 2012/13 season to recognize a player who has shown selflessness, leadership on and off the field, guiding others by example, and a high level of commitment to the team. The award is named after Jack Twyman and Maurice Stokes, who were well known for their friendship: after Stokes became paralyzed by an injury in 1958, Twyman became his legal guardian and cared for him until his death in 1970.

According to the selection mechanism, the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award will be selected by league executives from six candidates in the East and West, and then all active NBA players will vote to decide who will win. Curry received a total of 66 first-place votes, 39 second-place votes, 30 third-place votes, 46 fourth-place votes and 36 fifth-place votes (1,257 points) in the voting, winning by a narrow margin. Houston Rockets center Steven Adams came in second with 46 first-place votes, 54 second-place votes, 46 third-place votes, 42 fourth-place votes and 43 fifth-place votes (1,237 points), while New York Knicks guard Jaylen Brunson came in third with 36 first-place votes, 38 second-place votes, 31 third-place votes, 38 fourth-place votes and 30 fifth-place votes (925 points).

Curry, 37, was selected by the Warriors as the 17th pick in the first round in 2009. He has played in 1,026 regular season games so far, averaging 24.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. He has won two regular season MVPs and 11 All-Star appearances. He has also played in 147 playoff games for the Warriors, averaging 27.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game, and won four NBA championships as a starter.

So far this season, Curry has played in 70 regular season games, averaging 24.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 32.1 minutes per game, shooting 44.8% from the field and 39.7% from three-point range. He also played all four games in the first round of the playoffs, averaging 25.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
