Chelsea's return to the Champions League is fueled by the presence of Trevor Chalobah, who hopes to help the team go further in the competition. The defender has already gained experience playing against Europe's top clubs during his first two seasons with the first team. Like all his teammates, he has waited years for this opportunity to compete against top teams again. For the academy graduate, the past few seasons have been particularly disheartening, watching his team struggle in the Champions League.  

Last season, Trevor Chalobah played a crucial role in helping the team turn around their fortunes and ultimately finish fourth in the Premier League, securing a Champions League spot. Now, after three matches, Chelsea have two wins and one loss, including a defeat to Bayern Munich. Trevor Chalobah discussed the conditions and mentality the team should possess in the Champions League.  

Trevor Chalobah said after the match: "We played well against Bayern Munich, although the scoreline didn't reflect that, but that's the level of competition we're aiming for. There were a few times in the game where we really felt we could compete with them, but overall the game was very difficult. Bayern's strength is undeniable, and we know that every game will be challenging."  

“We have always longed to return to the Champions League. Last season, the whole team worked incredibly hard towards that goal. Now, we will give it our all, enjoy the game, and hope this journey will leave us with wonderful memories.”  

For the 26-year-old defender, his performance this season has been nothing short of solid. Aside from missing the match against Liverpool due to suspension, he has made every league appearance. Trevor Chalobah stated, "I want to maintain a consistent level of performance and be ready to contribute to the team at any time. Whenever the coach needs me, I will step up without hesitation."  

Chelsea's next stop is Baku, the city that witnessed their Europa League victory in 2019. Trevor Chalobah, after his loan spell at Ipswich Town ended, watched that classic win against Arsenal on television. Now, he hopes to leave his mark in the Azerbaijani capital, helping Chelsea defeat Qarabag. It's worth noting that both Qarabag and Chelsea have won two of their first three Champions League group stage matches this season.  

Trevor Chalobah said: "Every game is tough, so we have to be fully prepared. If our opponents have already secured a Champions League spot, that's very admirable; it shows they've had a great season. Chelsea's goal is to compete in the Champions League, and we hope to stay on that stage for a long time, so we must show our true strength."  

When asked if the team planned to maintain its Champions League qualification in the long term, Trevor Chalobah said: "Yes, that was exactly what we strived for last season, and we succeeded. Now, our goal remains to participate in the Champions League and achieve good results. Obviously, the team also hopes to consistently participate in the Champions League every season in the future; that is our long-term goal."
