In the fifth round of the 2025/26 FA Cup, Liverpool, playing at Molineux Stadium, defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 thanks to goals from Robertson, Salah and Jones.

Six minutes into the match, Liverpool created an opportunity from a corner kick. Gakopo leaped up and headed the ball towards goal, but it hit the post and was caught by Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. In the 9th minute, McAllister received a pass back from his teammate in the penalty area and unleashed a long-range shot, but the ball was also intercepted by Sam Johnstone.

In the 30th minute, Liverpool's corner kick was cleared, and Hrafinbech received the ball outside the penalty area and took a long-range shot, but the ball went wide of the post. In the 34th minute, Ngumoha received a pass from his teammate and shot from inside the penalty area, but it was blocked. Gomez then took a shot, but it went wide.

In the 41st minute, Liverpool won a free kick. Szoboszlai took the kick but his shot hit the wall. Hrafinbech then unleashed a long-range shot from the edge of the box, but it was caught by Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. In second-half stoppage time, Salah took a corner, and Van Dijk's header struck a defender's hand, but the referee did not award a penalty.

In the 51st minute of the second half, Salah dealt with the defense and passed the ball back. Robertson, near the edge of the penalty area, received a cross from Jones and fired a long-range shot into the net, giving Liverpool a 1-0 lead.

In the 53rd minute, Robertson delivered a diagonal pass from the penalty area to the front of the goal, where Salah immediately pounced and fired a low shot into the net. The linesman initially flagged for offside, but after VAR intervention, the goal was confirmed, giving Liverpool a 2-0 lead over Wolves. In the 69th minute, Liverpool substituted Wirtz and Frimpong for Ngumoha and Salah.

In the 74th minute, Liverpool's passing combination was cleared, and Jones regained possession before unleashing a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area to extend Liverpool's lead to 3-0. In the 80th minute, McAllister suffered a leg injury after a tackle by Hwang Hee-chan and was replaced by Trey Nione.

In the 84th minute, Gakopo orchestrated an attack, and Frimpong received the ball and unleashed a powerful shot, but it was blocked by Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. In stoppage time of the second half, Sam Johnstone kicked off, and Hwang Hee-chan followed up, entering the penalty area and slotting the ball into the net, helping Wolves pull one back to 1-3.

Liverpool ultimately defeated Wolves 3-1 away from home, successfully advancing to the quarterfinals.
