Bodø/Glimt comfortably beat Lazio with a shock 2-0 win the first leg of the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday.

In the first half, Marušić's header was spectacularly saved. In the second half, Saltnes scored first by pushing the ball into net, and then scored by chipping the goalkeeper from close range. In the end, Bodø/Glimt beat Lazio with a shock 2-0 win. It is worth mentioning that this is only the first time the two teams have have faced each other in the history, and it is also the second time that the Norwegian Eliteserien defending champions has defeated a Serie A opponent since their Double over Roma a few years ago.

First Half

In the 32nd minute, Ulrik Saltnes passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Ole Didrik Blomberg quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot went wide of the right side of the post.

5 minutes later, Lazio got a corner kick opportunity. Mattia Zaccagni took the corner kick by crossing it into the box. Adam Marušić rose high and attempted with a header from a very close distance in the box, however his effort was spectaculatly saved over the crossbar by Nikita Haikin.

At the end of the first half, Bodø/Glimt and Lazio temporarily drew 0-0 and went into the half-time break.

Second Half

Both team switched sides as the match continued. In the 47th minute, Blomberg made a straight pass from the edge of the penalty area. Ulrik Saltnes quickly followed up and stopped the ball before pushing the ball into the bottom left corner of the net with his right foot from the center of the box. Bodø/Glimt broke the deadlock first to take a 1-0 lead!

12 minutes later, Fredrik Bjørkan passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Jens Petter Hauge quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the center side of the box, but his shot went just slightly higher than the upper left corner of the crossbar.

In the 69th minute, Petter Hauge made an overhead pass from the front. After successfully beating the offside trap, Saltnes quickly followed up, got the ball and took a few steps before chipping the ball over the outrushing Christos Mandas with his right foot shot from a very close distance in the box. The ball crossed the goal line before being blocked by Alessio Romagnoli. The referee unanimously ruled that the goal was valid! Bodø/Glimt extended their lead to 2-0! This is the Norwegian midfielder's 8th goal in all competitions this season!

In the 84th minute, Andreas Helmersen made a lhrough horizontal pass from the center of the box. After successfully beating the offside trap, Saltnes quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, pushed the ball with his right foot from a very close distance in front of the box, but his shot was saved by Mandas.

Two minutes into injury time, Bodø/Glimt got a free kick opportunity. Patrick Berg took the free kick by crossing it into the box from outside the penalty area. Odin Bjørtuft quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed with his right foot from the center of the box, but his shot was saved by Mandas.

When the final whistle is blown, Bodø/Glimt comfortably beat Lazio with a shock 2-0 win.
