Werder Bremen announced on Thursday that Horst Steffen will replace Ole Werner as the head coach of the first team from today. According to Sky Sports Germany, the two sides have signed a contract until June 30, 2028.

Horst Steffen, 56, has coached several lower-level German teams, including Borussia Mönchengladbach U19, Stuttgart Kickers, Preussen Munster and Chemnitz. He has been the head coach of Eversburg since October 2018, which is seven years.

In order to facilitate the transfer, Werder Bremen paid Eversberg a buyout fee of approximately 350,000 euros.

This time, Steffen is the first time to coach Werder Bremen as the head coach of a Bundesliga team. However, Bremen Football General Manager Clemens Fritz is full of confidence in Steffen: "Horst's professional ability and personal charm have completely impressed us.
