Another match in the 14th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season will see Aston Villa travel to Brighton for an away game. Emery has stated that his team must score goals in different ways and continue to improve.
Aston Villa secured a 1-0 home victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last Premier League match, thanks to an assist from McGinn for Kamara's goal. With four wins and one loss in their last five games, Aston Villa currently sit fourth in the league table with 24 points.
Brighton's Schürlzerle team defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the last round and are currently 5th in the standings with 22 points.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery said, "Watkins and Malen are both excellent players, and both of them are playing. Watkins has earned my trust, and he has been doing his job. Perhaps he felt a little less confident than usual in matches because of his recent goal drought, but he never gives up on what he's supposed to do. He is very important to us, and the goals will surely come."
"As for Malen's performance, I'm happy to see him taking on his own challenges and providing the tactical support we need. Of course, he'll definitely score as long as he continues to get playing time."
Emery continued, "This is the 14th game so far, and we need to play 38 games. Whether it's our position or theirs in the standings, it's a remarkable achievement. Which team deserves to be ahead of us? We'll see tomorrow. After 38 games, let's see how our overall performance compares to theirs."
“It’s important to stay focused, intense, and play our style for 90 minutes. Even so, Brighton can still beat any opponent because they are very intense. They stick to their style and control the game, no matter who they face at home.”
Furthermore, Emery added, "Our expectations are high, and our consistency will be tested again. Our opponents are one of the strongest we could possibly face right now; their style of play, intensity, and the form they've shown at home all make them very formidable. We need to score goals, not only to capitalize on our chances but also to create them and control the game, and in doing so, create more chances than our opponents. Of course, there are still many areas where we need to improve, one of which is scoring goals in different ways."
“We need different types of players involved in scoring, including forwards, wingers, midfielders, and center-backs, and sometimes even players like Cash, Digne, or Ian Mattson who score in different ways. We need players to score in different ways and continue to improve.”
