Bayern Munich announced on Tuesday that they have signed a contract extension with German goalkeeper Sven Ulreich, extending the existing contract by one year until June 30, 2026.

The 36-year-old Ulreich came through the youth academy at Stuttgart and made his Bundesliga debut for the first team on February 9, 2008. He subsequently played 220 games for Stuttgart, keeping 50 clean sheets.

In July 2015, Ulreich moved to Bayern Munich for €3.5 million. He primarily served as backup goalkeeper to Manuel Neuer at Bayern, making 103 appearances and keeping 34 clean sheets. He also won one Champions League, nine Bundesliga titles, one European Super Cup, three German Cups, and six German Super Cups.

Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl explained the decision to extend Ulreich's contract: "Sven Ulreich is the epitome of reliability: he keeps his word – literally and figuratively. A character like him is invaluable to any team. We are very happy that he will be playing for us for another season."

With the contract extension completed, Ulreich is about to enter his 11th season at Bayern. Various signs indicate that he will continue to play the role of third goalkeeper next season, following Jonas Ulbig in the starting pecking order.
