Stuttgart issued a statement on Thursday, announcing that it had completed the contract extension with Nicolas Nartey. The new contract is extended by one year based on the original framework and is valid until June 30, 2026.
Regarding the decision to renew Nikolaas Nartey's contract, Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth explained: "Nico is a great asset to our squad both on and off the pitch. He has excellent skills, can play in many positions and has an exemplary professional attitude."
"After a long injury, Nico has returned to the field with extraordinary fighting spirit and abundant energy. We are very happy that Nico can continue to stay in Stuttgart."
25-year-old Nicolas Nartai mainly plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as a left back, left midfielder, etc. He was born in Bosvej, Denmark, and made his professional debut on November 26, 2017 for Cologne in the 13th round of the Bundesliga.
In August 2019, Nartai transferred from Cologne to Stuttgart. He was then loaned out to Hansa Rostock and Sandhausen to gain experience, until he got a chance to play in Stuttgart in the 2021/22 season.
To date, Nartai has only played 23 times for Stuttgart and won the 2024/25 German Cup with the team. During this period, he was absent for a total of 924 days due to injuries and missed 169 games.
After completing the contract extension, Nartai said: "It feels great to be back on the field at the end of the season and win the German Cup with my teammates. I am very happy to continue to move forward side by side with everyone and to continue to wear the Stuttgart jersey in the future. I hope to contribute to the team's continued winning path and work with everyone to achieve our goals."
