AC Milan issued a statement on Thursday announcing Samuel Ricci's transfer from Torino. The two parties signed a contract until June 30, 2029, with an option for one year's extension.
It has also been officially confirmed that Samuel Ricci will wear the No. 4 jersey in Milan.
The 23-year-old Ricci was born in Pontedera, Italy, and mainly plays as a defensive midfielder. He came from Empoli's youth training and made his debut for the first team in Serie B on September 21, 2019.
In January 2022, Ricci joined Torino on a lease-to-buy basis. So far, he has played 113 times for Torino, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists.
According to multiple Italian media reports, the fixed fee for this transfer is 23 million euros, plus additional clauses of up to 1.5 million euros. Once all the clauses are fulfilled, Ricci will become the third most expensive player sold in Torino's history.
According to the previously drafted profit-sharing agreement, Torino needs to pay Empoli 10% of the transfer income. However, they will also receive 15% of Ritchie's secondary resale share.
After completing the signing, Ritchie said: "I have never been so nervous in the past few days. I also feel extremely honored because we all know what kind of club AC Milan is."
"People expect a lot from me," he added. "This year is a very important one for me but I will do my best to repay Milan's trust."
