The Dallas Mavericks officially announced that Frank Vogel will serve as the team's chief assistant coach in the 2025-26 season, once again working with head coach Jason Kidd to jointly manage the team's technical and tactical system.

Vogel and Kidd's relationship dates back to 2019, when Vogel coached the Los Angeles Lakers and Kidd was his lead assistant coach. The two worked together for three years, leading the Lakers to an NBA championship in 2020. Now, the roles have reversed, with Vogel serving as Kidd's right-hand man.

Vogel, who spent the past season assisting the Dallas Mavericks in a consulting capacity, has now officially transitioned to Kidd's role as his primary assistant. Vogel has extensive coaching experience, having previously served as head coach for the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic, and Indiana Pacers, with his most successful stints there.

The Dallas Mavericks hope to leverage Vogel's defensive expertise and the trust between him and Kidd to build a more complete system for the team. In addition to Vogel, the Mavericks also expanded their coaching staff.

The Dallas Mavericks' coaching staff for the new season includes several veteran coaches, including Jay Triano, Puopeye Jones, and Phil Handy. However, the biggest focus outside is undoubtedly the reunion of Vogel and Kidd.
