FC Augsburg will kick off the 2025-26 season on Monday, facing Regionalliga side Halleschel in the opening round of the DFB-Pokal. Augsburg's opponents have made a strong start to the season in the Northeast Regionalliga, winning their first three matches, scoring seven goals and conceding just one.
Head coach Sandro Wagner said: "The last few weeks have been very competitive and the team is very excited about the start of the season. We have been following the performances of Halleschel FC closely over the past week."
"We are fully prepared and have great respect for FC Halleschel. Despite this, we are confident of winning the upcoming matches. We will give our all game by game, especially in the cup competitions."

"Captain Geoffrey Houweleu has recovered from hand surgery and will be reinstated in the squad. However, striker Alexis Claude-Maurice is still recovering from injury and is not expected to return to action for a few days."
