Auxerre announced on its official website on Thursday that the club has signed Chile international defender Francisco Sierralta from Watford.
According to the Ligue 1 club's official statement, Sierralta has signed on a long-term four-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029. At the same time, he will also wear the No. 4 jersey.
About Francisco Sierralta
Francisco Sierralta, 28, was born in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile on May and June 1997. He is 1.93 meters tall and primarily plays as a center back. He can also play as a defensive midfielder. He has dual Chilean and Spanish nationality.
Sierralta has joined the Universidad Católica youth academy since he was a child. He joined the Granada youth academy Granada in January 2015, but was immediately loaned back to the Universidad Católica. In September 2015, he completed his Universidad Católica first-team debut by coming on as a substitute , and won the Chilean Primera División with the club during this spell.
In July of the following year, Sierralta was loaned-out to Palestino.
In August 2017, Sieralta joined Udinese for €550,000, but was immediately loaned-out to Parma for a season and a half, during which he helped the club win promotion the to Serie A once.
In January 2020, Sierralta was loaned-out to Empoli.
In September of the same year, Sierralta joined Watford for €1 million.
During his five-year spell with the Hornets, Sierralta played 123 times for the EFL Championship club in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and assisting 1 time.
