Official: Suns trade Durant to Rockets for Green, Dillon and 6th pick

According to ESPN's Shams Charania on Sunday, the Phoenix Suns have reached a blockbuster deal with the Houston Rockets: the Suns will send Kevin Durant to the Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, this year's No. 10 first-round pick and five second-round picks. The deal will officially take effect on July 6.

ESPN reporter Bobby Marks and Suns team reporter John Gambadoro further pointed out that the five second-round picks sent by the Rockets are: No. 59 in 2025, two second-round picks in 2026, a second-round pick from the Boston Celtics in 2030, and a second-round pick in 2032.

Durant played 62 games for the Suns last season, averaging 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, shooting 52.7% from the field and 43% from three-point range. He not only led the league with a 49.7% jump shot percentage, a 53.1% mid-range shooting percentage and a 50.9% dribbling jump shot percentage, but also had the highest points per possession among players who played more than 200 singles last season.

In comparison, the Rockets ranked 27th and 24th in the effective field goal percentage of dribbling jump shots and overall jump shots last season, and their singles efficiency was also low. Durant's joining is expected to make up for the team's shortcomings on the offensive end and significantly improve its championship competitiveness.

The Rockets finished second in the Western Conference with a 52-30 record last season under coach Im Udoka, but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs after a seven-game battle with the Golden State Warriors.

The deal also allowed Durant to join one of his three favorite teams, the other two being the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs. Durant and Udoka have a close personal relationship, as they worked together in the Brooklyn Nets and the United States Men's Basketball Team. Starting in July, he will play alongside Alperen Shinjing, Amen Thompson and Fred VanVleet, forming a core lineup that is both ready and talented.

Talking about joining the Rockets, Durant told Kay Adams: "I am looking forward to becoming a member of the Houston Rockets. The past few weeks have been crazy, but I am glad that everything is finally settled."

"The Suns wanted me to leave. They got what they wanted and I got what I wanted. Now we can move on and wish them all the best in the future. I will remember my experience with the Suns, but now I will start a new journey."

As for the Rockets, Durant added: "They played well last season. I admire their leadership. I feel like I can be a great addition to the team."
