The Miami Heat are expected to sign Davion Mitchell to a two-year, $24 million contract extension, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Saturday.

The 26-year-old Davion Mitchell mainly plays as a shooting guard and was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the ninth pick in the first round in 2021. Due to the subsequent development not being as expected, he was traded by the Kings to the Toronto Raptors in the 2024/25 season.

In February 2025, Mitchell was sent to the Miami Heat in a five-way trade involving Jimmy Butler. Since joining the Heat, he has played in 30 regular season games, averaging 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 31.6 minutes per game, with a shooting percentage of 50.4% and a three-point shooting percentage of 44.7%, a career high.

In the playoffs, Mitchell played four times for the Heat, averaging 15.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 35.5 minutes per game, with a shooting percentage of 61.0% and a three-point shooting percentage of 42.9%.

Although the Heat lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round, Mitchell's performance was still recognized by everyone. The Heat management also regarded him as an important piece of the future lineup and showed their trust in him by renewing his contract.
