Como announced on its official website on Monday that the club has signed Croatia international midfielder wonderkid Martin Baturina from Dinamo Zagreb.
According to Como's official statement, Baturina has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.
According to the news brought by Sky Sports Italia's resident renowned transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A dark horse paid a total of €18 million to Dinamo Zagreb to sign Baturina, which does not include an additional clause of up to €7 million.
After completing his joining procedures, Baturina, who was interviewed by Como's official website, said: "I am very happy to come to Como. This team has great plans and is located in a beautiful city. I have talked to the club and the coach. I am very much looking forward to starting this new experience and wearing this jersey on the pitch."
About Martin Baturina
Baturina, who is only 22 years old, was born in Zurich, Switzerland on February 16, 2003. He is 1.72 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder. He can also play as an attacking midfielder. He has given up his Swiss nationality. His father Mate is a former Croatia international midfielder and currently coaches a local non-league club. His elder brother Roko is a former Croatia U21s international forward and currently plays for Gil Vicente.
Baturina followed in the footsteps of his father and elder brother by joining the youth academy of Hajduk Split since he was a child. In 2017, he moved to the Dinamo Zagreb youth academy and completed his Dinamo Zagreb first-team debut in May 2021.
In September of the following year, Baturina, who was still 19 years old at the time, became famous for his outstanding performances in the Champions League match against Chelsea, helping the club beat the Blues 1-0. Since then, his name has always been associated with many big clubs in Europe's Big 5 leagues.
During his four-year spell at Dinamo Zagreb, Baturina played 165 times for the club in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 39 assists. During which he has won the Croatian HNL twice and the Croatian Cup twice.
