Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira admitted that relegation was almost inevitable after the team lost 0-1 to Liverpool. Obviously, the team's performance this season is far from the expected level.  

Substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win against Liverpool, though Connor Coady's goal was ruled out 10 minutes from time after Patterson Daka fouled Alisson.  

Still, a draw was not enough to prevent Leicester City from securing a spot in the Championship for the 2025-26 season. Only a win over the incoming champions would ensure they remain in the league and keep their relegation hopes alive.  

Despite the more positive approach, this was still their ninth home defeat in the Premier League without a goal. After the game, Ricardo Pereira reflected on the season as a whole and the positives that the team showed in the game.  

Ricardo Pereira said: "For me, the season did not end today, but a long time ago. We encountered many problems throughout the season. After returning from the Championship, we knew it would be a difficult season. Today's Leicester City is completely different from the team that was relegated before."  

"However, I am satisfied with our performance and effort today and I believe that as long as we keep working hard, good results will come. Of course, we will review the game and see how we can do better in defense and offense."  

"We knew we would have difficulties facing such an opponent. However, we did a good job on the defensive end and created some opportunities. If we had a little more luck, maybe we could have gained something from the game."  

"I think we maintained a good form throughout and didn't let up even in the final stages. We need more performances like today in the next games."  

Leicester City have five games left in the 2024-25 season, with the team next away to Wolves. This gives Wolves a chance to pick up some points at the end of the season. Currently, Leicester City has only 18 points in 33 games.  

Ricardo Pereira also said: "We must now focus on the present, play every game to the best of our ability and make full use of the remaining few games. Even if it is just a different way to end the season and strive for a few victories, it will make everything better."
