Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said after the team's defeat again, "We are losing the feeling of being a top club", and admitted that what is more worrying at the moment is not the record itself, but the "embarrassment" of the lack of urgency when Manchester United is struggling in the Premier League.

Just three days after reaching the Europa League final, Manchester United were dealt a cold shoulder by equally troubled West Ham United, with Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen scoring as the Hammers won at Old Trafford for the first time since 2007.

Amorim said in an interview after the game: "Our biggest crisis now is the feeling of 'it doesn't matter'. Some people think that we can't change the ranking too much anyway, so it doesn't matter if we lose. This is the most serious problem of our club at the moment."

"We are losing that feeling that as a big club, losing at home should be the end of the world. That mentality is the most worrying thing."

Since Ferguson retired in 2013, Manchester United has not won the Premier League title. Now, they have fallen to 16th place in the standings, just one step away from the relegation zone, with only two rounds left in the league. Amorim did not hide his frustration: "As the coach of Manchester United, I feel ashamed to see the team ranked 16th. This situation is unacceptable."

"Everyone has to reflect seriously. Now everyone is talking about the Europa League final, but for me, the final is not the focus at all at this moment."

"We have more important things to deal with and a lot of things have to change radically after the season ends."
