Hellas Verona announced on their official website on Thursday that Hoffenheim's Nigeria international forward Gift Orban has joined the club on-loan.
According to the Serie A club's official statement, Orban will play for the club on loan until the end of the season, with a buyout option available to be triggered upon his or the club's performances.
About Gift Orban
Gift Orban, 23, was born on July 17, 2002, in Benue, Nigeria. He is 1.78 meters tall and primarily plays center forward, but can also play right winger. He holds dual Nigerian and Togolese citizenship.
Orban played for the youth academy of Nigerian non-league club Bison FC as a child. He joined Stabæk's youth academy in November 2021 and completed his Stabæk first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a Norwegian Cup match in late May of the following year.
During his time at Stabæk, Orban's prolific goalscoring effiency led the club to promotion to the Norwegian Eliteserien, as well as winning both the Golden Boot and Young Player of the Year awards.
On the 2023 winter transfer window deadline day, Orban joined Gent for €5 million.
During his time at Gent, Orban achieved a record-breaking streak of consecutive hat tricks in UEFA Conference League matches, including one in just 6 minutes and 12 seconds, earning him worldwide fame.
In January 2024, Orban joined Lyon for €13 million. During his time there, he also helped the club reach the Coupe de France final.
In January 2025, Orban joined Hoffenheim for €9 million.
During his six-month spell at Hoffenheim, Orban made 13 appearances for the Bundesliga club in all competitions, scoring four goals.
