Sunderland centre-back Dani Ballard has confirmed he will stay with the club, signing a new contract that will last until at least 2029.

Sunderland announced on Sunday that they have extended the contract of Northern Ireland centre-back Daniel Ballard. The new contract will run from 2028 to June 30, 2029, with an option to extend for another year.

The 26-year-old Ballard came through Arsenal's youth academy and spent early in his career on loan at lower-league English clubs such as Swindon, Blackpool, and Millwall. Since joining Sunderland in July 2022, he has made 114 appearances in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists.

After finalizing the contract extension, Ballard's joy was palpable: "I am very happy to be able to extend my contract. From the moment we started negotiations, this decision seemed natural, and I am happy to continue to stay at the club."
