Union Berlin issued a statement on Tuesday announcing the buyout of Stuttgart's on-loan striker Zheng Youying. As usual, the club did not disclose the length of the contract and specific details.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Union Berlin bought out Zheng Youying for about 4 million euros. Zheng Youying's contract with Stuttgart was originally scheduled to end in June 2026.

The 25-year-old Zheng Youying mainly plays as a right winger, but can also play as a front midfielder, left winger, shadow striker, etc. He received youth training at Incheon United and Bayern Munich in his early years, and made his debut for Bayern's first team in the Champions League on November 27, 2018.

In June 2019, Zheng Youying joined Freiburg from Bayern Munich for 2 million euros. After playing for Freiburg for four years, he moved to Stuttgart and joined Berlin United on loan for 700,000 euros in August 2024.

So far, Zheng Youying has played 23 times for Berlin United, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists. Although he was ruled out early due to knee ligament injury in the middle of the season, Berlin United still fully recognized his performance and potential.

"Jung Woo-young showed us great value in his first season," said Horst Herdt, head of professional football at Union Berlin, in a statement. "Even though injuries hampered his performance, we quickly decided to keep him on for the long term. We are confident that he will continue his previous performances when he returns."

Jung Woo-young said: "I am very happy to continue playing for Union Berlin. From the first day, I felt very comfortable at Union Berlin. The support of the fans, the trust of the coaching staff and the special atmosphere within the team meant a lot to me. I look forward to returning to the field as soon as possible and giving my all for the club."
