Borussia Mönchengladbach announced on Wednesday that the buyout clause for Swedish all-rounder Hugo Bolling has been officially triggered. The two sides also signed a four-and-a-half-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.

Bolin arrived on loan from Malmö in February and quickly became a key member of Borussia Mönchengladbach's midfield and attack. He has played as a left winger, attacking midfielder, and left midfielder for Mönchengladbach so far, providing one assist in six appearances across all competitions.

Multiple sources have confirmed that Bolin's buyout fee is €2 million. Including performance-related bonuses, the total transaction could reach €3.5 million.

Regarding the decision to buy out Bollin, Borussia Mönchengladbach's sporting director, Ruben Schröder, explained: "Hugo quickly integrated into the team from the first day he joined and fully embraces Borussia Mönchengladbach's philosophy. He is very focused on improving himself and proved in his debut that he will definitely bring us a lot of joy in the future."

As a product of Malmö's youth academy, Bolin had made 103 appearances for his parent club before joining the Bundesliga, scoring 19 goals and providing 9 assists. His honors included two Swedish Allsvenskan titles and one Swedish Cup title. In his early years, he was also loaned by Malmö to BK Olympiacos and Degfoss, during which time he played 29 games in the Swedish Superettan and 9 games in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

After completing the transfer, 22-year-old Bolling could not hide his joy and excitement. In a statement, he said: "I feel right at home here. I really like the atmosphere of this top club and the packed stadiums in the Bundesliga. I recently had the privilege of witnessing two home victories at Borussia-Park and celebrating with the team and fans – which makes me even more eager for victory. I look forward to continuing to grow at Borussia Mönchengladbach."
