Burnley manager Scott Parker talked about the team's upcoming participation in the Premier League in the new season in an interview and said he can't wait to meet the challenges of the new season.
Burnley, coached by Kompany, returned to the Premier League in the 2023/24 season, but eventually finished 19th and suffered relegation.
With Kompany's departure, Scott Parker was appointed as Burnley's new head coach in July 2024. Scott Parker led Burnley to second place in the 2024/25 Championship season, so he will be able to participate in the Premier League next season.
Scott Parker shared in an interview, "In the first two or three weeks of summer, you may not think about football, but after a while, when you are sitting on the beach or somewhere relaxing, you will start to miss the game and look forward to returning to the team."
“We have had a very successful season and achieved our goals, and now our full focus will be on the upcoming season. We are full of expectations and can't wait to take on the challenge of the Premier League, which is the stage everyone is eager to play in.”
Scott Parker emphasized, "We created a 33-game unbeaten record last season, conceded only 16 goals, and also achieved 30 clean sheets and 100 points. We have accomplished something unprecedented, which is incredible. This is done by a group of special players and a united club."
"We are of course aware that this challenge will be very severe. In the past two seasons, it is common for promoted teams to be relegated. But I have always told the players that this is the challenge we are eager to face. We will meet the challenge with 100% commitment, desire and positive attitude, just like last season. The situation in the new season is certainly different, but we must stick to ourselves and strive for success."
When talking about the topic of introducing new players, Scott Parker said, "This stage is always challenging, both for the club's top management and the coach. We have had a lot of discussions, meetings and phone calls. Ideally, every coach hopes to complete all the signings as soon as possible and let the new players participate in pre-season training as soon as possible to familiarize themselves with the system and tactical arrangements."
"I am very happy with our current signings. We have signed several excellent players. Next, I hope there will be some new additions to continue to improve and help the team move forward."
On the other hand, Burnley will travel to Tottenham Hotspur, led by new coach Thomas Frank, in the first round of the new Premier League season, officially starting a new challenging journey.
