Foreign media outlet Sheep Esports exclusively reported on Saturday that ownership of the Canadian League of Legends club Luminosity (LG) may be repurchased by its former CEO.
According to the report, LG's owner, Enthusiasts Gaming, decided in early August to sell ownership of the club to an entity controlled by former CEO Adrian Montgomery for $1 million. The payment will be made through a vendor loan, repayable upon a future liquidity event for either the buyer or the acquired assets.
The assets being sold include GameCo Esports Canada Inc., the parent company of LG's business, and Omnia Media, which co-operates with its YouTube channel network and manages its revenue.
According to reports, Enthusiasts Gaming has not yet finalized the shares transfer with Adrian Montgomery due to unresolved conditions.
If Montgomery successfully repurchases LG's ownership, the Canadian club will officially end its ownership by Enthusiasts Gaming after six years.
Founded in 2015, Luminosity (LG) is not only one of Canada's most established and renowned esports club, but also a renowned institution throughout North America.
LG previously had a Counter Strike team, established in 2015, which even won the 2016 MLG Major Columbus. However, the team disbanded after Enthusiasts Gaming acquired the club in 2019.
Since being acquired by Enthusiasts Gaming in August 2019, LG has focused on competing in esports titles such as Overwatch, Super Smash Bros., Fortnite, and Valorant.
In November 2024, LG officially established its League of Legends team to compete in the NACL.
In June of this year, LG defeated DarkZero 0-3 in of the 2025 NACL Split 1.
During this spell, its bottom laner Tactical was even selected as the 2025 NACL Split 1 MVP for his outstanding performances.
