In the first leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Bodø/Glimt shone with a 3-0 victory over Sporting CP, gaining a crucial advantage in the tie. This makes them the fifth team outside of Europe's top five leagues to achieve five consecutive wins in the Champions League, further proving that their previous victories over giants like Manchester City, Atlético Madrid, and Inter Milan were no flukes.
Just eight minutes into the game, Bodø/Glimt, playing at home, launched an immediate attack: Haakon Efcan cut back from the right side of the penalty area, and Jens Peter Hauge's shot from the center went just wide. In the 24th minute, Hauge played a through ball from the edge of the penalty area, and Efcan's low shot was brilliantly saved by Rui Silva. Sporting CP immediately launched a quick counter-attack, but Luis Guilherme's finishing touch was saved by Nikita Haeckin.
In the 29th minute, Sandre Feth was brought down in the penalty area by Giorgios Vayannidis, giving Bodø/Glimt a penalty. He then converted the penalty, giving Bodø/Glimt a one-goal lead.
In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Hauge's lobbed pass from near the edge of the box deflected slightly off João Simons and found Ole Blumberger. Blumberger immediately fired a low shot into the net, extending Bodø/Glimt's lead.
After the break, Sporting Lisbon, trailing by two goals, launched a full-scale attack from the start. In the 50th minute, Luis Suarez passed the ball to the left side of the penalty area, where Ivan Fresneda dribbled past Blumberger and curled a shot just wide. In the 52nd minute, Simmons headed the ball across the box, and Ousmane Diomande's follow-up shot went wide to the right. In the 60th minute, Geni Catamo's long pass from midfield linked up with Luis Suarez, whose shot inside the box was saved by Haikin.
However, Bodø/Glimt shattered their opponents' hopes of a comeback in the 71st minute: Hauge cut inside from the left and delivered a precise cross, allowing Kasper Hogg to fire a powerful shot into the net and seal the victory. Neither side managed to score again, and the final score remained 3-0.
