Como 1907 has announced the season-long loan signing of Brazilian center-back Diego Carlos from Fenerbahçe. This seasoned defender is a consistent and experienced defender with extensive experience at the top level of European competition. His professional journey began in Brazil, and he made his Portuguese top-flight debut in 2015 with Estoril, making 31 appearances.  

He then joined Nantes in Ligue 1, playing 108 games for the team over three years. He then moved to Sevilla in La Liga, where he made 136 appearances in the league, domestic cups, the Champions League and the Europa League, playing a key role in their Europa League victory in the 2019-20 season.  

In 2022, Diego Carlos moved to Aston Villa and began playing in the Premier League. During his time there, he made 58 appearances, not only proving himself in England's top flight but also further enhancing his international experience.  

In addition to winning the Europa League trophy during his time at Sevilla, Diego Carlos also represented the Brazilian Olympic team in the Tokyo Olympics and ultimately helped the team win the 2020 Olympic men's football gold medal.  

Como coach Cesc Fabregas said of the new signing: "Diego Carlos is a central defender with outstanding ability and rich experience. He fits the team's tactical philosophy very well and I believe he can significantly strengthen our defense."  

After joining, Diego Carlos said: "I chose Como because I was very excited about the plans here and the club has a deep football heritage. I discussed the team's future blueprint with the head coach. This is a project with great potential and is constantly growing. I expressed to him my determination and hope to contribute to the team and the fans and help Como move to a higher level."
