Diego Coppola from Italy moved to Brighton last month and signed a five-year contract. The defender said in an interview that he is looking forward to participating in the new Premier League season.

Diego Coppola, 21, previously played for Verona and played 34 games for Verona in the 2024/25 Serie A season and scored 2 goals.

Speaking about his goal of joining Brighton, Diego Coppola shared, “I can’t wait to play my first Premier League game. For many Italian players, playing in the Premier League is like a dream. We grew up watching Premier League games on TV, so for me, this is a dream come true.”

"I think the Premier League is a good fit for me, but I haven't played against any Premier League team and I've never played in the Premier League, so it's all new to me. But I'm confident and I believe I can do well."

It is worth mentioning that Diego Coppola was called up to the Italian national team for the first time in May, and then represented the U21 in the 2025 European U21 Football Championship.

Diego Coppola said, "June was really special for me. I was selected for the Italian national team for the first time, made my debut, and then played the second game. Then I participated in the U21 European Cup, and then joined Brighton. So I didn't have much time to rest, but it doesn't matter. In this case, it's okay not to rest."

"I'm already looking forward to starting training and meeting everyone. I've already met some of my teammates, we had lunch together, and I'm really happy to be here."
