As the NBA regular season enters its crucial final stretch, the Phoenix Suns, who have had an amazing season, are facing a serious injury crisis.
In Saturday night's double-overtime victory over the Orlando Magic, forward Dillon Brooks suffered a fractured left hand. According to renowned reporter Shams Charania, Brooks is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks, undoubtedly casting a shadow over the Suns' playoff prospects.
The 30-year-old Dillon is currently enjoying the peak of his career. As a key asset in last year's Kevin Durant trade, he has been averaging career-high 20.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game since joining the Suns.
However, Brooks's injury is just the tip of the iceberg in the Suns' recent injury crisis. Currently ranked among the league's dark horses with a record of 33 wins and 24 losses, they have been plagued by injuries since the All-Star break.
Star player Devin Booker, who had just missed seven consecutive games due to an ankle sprain, will now be sidelined for at least another week due to a right hip strain; guards Grayson Allen and Jordan Goodwin are also sidelined due to their respective injuries; and recently signed Haywood Highsmith is still in the long recovery period after knee surgery.
Despite facing the predicament of missing half of their key players due to injury, head coach Jordan Ott expressed a firm stance. As the season progresses, we must find new ways to win."
