The Athletic's resident renowned German transfer correspondent Raphael Honigstein, brought an exclusive report on Wednesday that Eintracht Frankfurt has bought out the ownership rights of on-loan Denmark international defender Rasmus Kristensen from Leeds United.
According to Honigstein's report, Frankfurt will pay Leeds United a transfer fee of €6 million at the end of this season to sign Kristensen, and the player has agreed to sign a three-year contract with the club which will run until the summer of 2028.
About Rasmus Kristensen
Rasmus Kristensen, 27 years old, was born on July 11, 1997 in the town of Ikast-Brande, Denmark. He is 1.87 meters tall and primarily plays as a right back. He can also play as a right midfielder or center back. His uncle Leon Jessen is a former Danish international left back and a Midtjylland legend during his playing career.
Kristensen joined the youth academy of his hometown's non-league club Brande, at the age of 6, joined the youth academy of Hening Fremad at the age of 12, joined the youth academy of Midtjylland at the age of 14 and completed his Midtjylland first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in March 2016.
In January 2018, Kristensen joined Ajax for €5.5 million.
During his one-and-a-half year spell with de Godenzonen, Kristensen won the Eredivisie once and the KNVB Cup once with the club.
In July of the following year, Kristensen joined Red Bull Salzburg for €5 million.
During his three-year spell at Salzburg, Kristensen led the club to win the Austrian Bundesliga three times and the Austrian Cup three times.
In July 2022, Kristensen joined Leeds United for £10 million.
Despite his good performances, Kristensen was unable to help the club avoid relegation to the EFL Championship.
In July of the following year, Kristensen was loaned-out to Roma.
In July 2024, Kristensen joined Eintracht Frankfurt on-loan with an option to buy.
This season, Kristensen has played 38 times for the Bundesliga powerhouse so far, scoring 3 goals, providing 3 assists and has reached the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals with the club.
