In the sixth round of the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League, Roma traveled to Celtic to face them. They ultimately won 3-0, moving up to 10th place in the standings.

Shortly after the start of the match, Roma got off to a dream start due to an opponent's mistake: in the 6th minute, Matias Sule took a corner kick from the right, and Liam Skiles attempted to clear the ball with his head but inadvertently scored an own goal.

With the score now 1-0, Roma's morale soared. In the 10th minute, Sulay passed the ball to the left wing, and Stefan El Shaarawy broke into the penalty area before his shot went just wide. In the 27th minute, Neal Ainawi successfully dispossessed Reo and delivered a cross, but Evan Ferguson's low shot inside the box hit the right post. In the 29th minute, under close marking, Ferguson passed the ball back to Sulay, whose long-range shot was saved by Kasper Schmeichel. Definne Lens then passed the ball back, but El Shaarawy's follow-up shot was unsuccessful.

In the 36th minute, Zeki Cerlik swept a cross from the right side of the penalty area, and Ferguson finished to extend the lead. In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Sule delivered a diagonal pass from the attacking third, and Ferguson turned and fired a shot into the net from inside the penalty area to score again.

In the third minute of first-half stoppage time, Celtic had a chance to pull one back: Arne Engels made a quick run into the penalty area and was brought down by Mario Hermoso. He then took the penalty himself, but his shot hit the left post. They missed at least two more scoring opportunities in the second half: in the 53rd minute, Reo Hatate's cross from the left found the onrushing Clutch Iheanacho, whose powerful shot, with a half-body lead, went wide of the left. In the 64th minute, Engels' cross found Iheanacho in front of goal, who slotted the ball into the net, but the referee ruled Iheanacho offside before the goal.

In the 74th minute, Leon Bailey received a pass back from Gianluca Mancini inside the penalty area and curled a shot into the net, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Neither side managed to score again, and Roma ultimately secured a 3-0 victory.
