Everton announced on Saturday that it has activated the buyout clause for Flamengo's on-loan midfielder Carlos Alcaraz. The two parties have signed a two-year contract valid until June 30, 2027.
According to the latest news from TA, Everton has a one-year contract extension option. As for the buyout amount of Alcaraz, ESPN Brazil believes that Everton paid 15 million euros for it.
Carlos Alcaraz, 22, was born in La Plata, Argentina, and made his professional debut in the Argentine Primera Division for Atlético Avellaneda on January 26, 2020. Since January 2023, he has moved to Southampton and Juventus, but has failed to gain a foothold in the first team.
In August 2024, Alcaraz transferred to Brazilian giants Flamengo for 18 million euros. With his outstanding performance of 3 goals and 2 assists in 19 games, he joined Everton on loan only half a year after leaving Europe.
So far, Alcaraz has played 16 times for Everton, scoring 2 goals and providing 3 assists. Everton finally finished 13th in the Premier League this season, and Alcaraz played an indispensable role.
