Finn Hazard hopes his first goal for Southampton will be the starting point for many more goals.

Finn Hazard hopes his first goal for Southampton on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday will be the start of a string of goals. The midfielder, who joined St. Mary's this summer, has already impressed with 46 goals in 93 Championship appearances for Plymouth and Middlesbrough. He admitted that his Southampton debut came a little later than he had initially expected.

Finn Azaz nearly scored again, having been saved by the Owls' goalkeeper's brilliant save off the line. Although the chance was unfortunately missed, the midfielder's performance was encouraging, and he believes his efforts will soon be reflected in the statistics.

Finn Azaz said, "This moment didn't come easily. I've been working hard to improve myself, putting in a lot of effort on the training field, and always believing that this is just the beginning of more victories. Although you remind yourself to maintain the same mindset in any situation, it's really gratifying to have a good start."

"Scoring a goal gives you extra confidence. I was surprised that I didn't score again after that, but I believe there will be more goals in the future. The most important thing is to always be in the right position."

Southampton secured a 3-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, extending their winning streak to 1-1 and displaying a more positive form ahead of the international break. Finn Hazard added, "We know our current performance is not yet at our ideal level, and we understand that the team must make changes and improvements to go further."

“We put in a tremendous amount of effort and went through a lot of difficult communication. I am incredibly happy and proud of these players; it has been a truly memorable week.”
