Cardiff City and Norwich City announced on their official websites on Tuesday that former Arsenal legendary midfielder, Wales international player Aaron Ramsey and former England international player Jack Wilshere will be appointed as interim head coaches of their respective clubs effective immediately.

According to Cardiff City's and Norwich City's official statements, both will coach the clubs as interim head coaches until the end of this season, and Ramsey will not retire as a player.

At the same time, Norwich City also announced that its Danish head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup will be sacked effective immediately, and assistant coach Glen Riddersholm will also be sacked.

In addition, Cardiff City's former Turkish interim head coach Omer Riza will also be sacked effective immediately.

According to the news brought by Sky Sports, Riza was fired because he failed to lead the club to avoid the risk of falling into the relegation zone, and Thorup was fired because he failed to lead the team to qualify for the EFL Championship promotion play-offs.

Currently, neither side has drawn up a list of potential new head coaches, but according to journalists' speculation, former Luton Town manager Rob Edwards may become one of the popular candidates.

About Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey, 34, was born in Caerphilly, Wales on December 26, 1990. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a center midfielder.

Ramsey joined the Cardiff City youth academy at the age of 9, and completed his Cardiff City first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in April 2007, during which he led the club to the FA Cup final once.

In July 2008, Ramsey joined Arsenal for £4.8 million.

During his 11-year spell with the Gunners, Ramsey won 3 FA Cups and 3 Community Shields with the club, rising to become one of the best midfielders in England, and also played for Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City on-loan during this time.

In July 2019, Ramsey joined Juventus as a free agent after his has contract expired.

During his 4-year stint with I Bianconneri, although Ramsey successfully won the Serie A, Coppa Italian and Supercoppa Italiana once each with the club, his performances was not satisfactory, and he temporarily joined Scottish Premiership giants Rangers on-loan during the 2022 winter transfer window. 

Although he reached the Europa League final with Rangers, he failed to usher in the second peak achievement in his career as he missed a key penalty in the final.

On July 26 2022, Juventus reached an agreement to terminate his contract for €3.5 million, and then he joined Nice as a free agent.

In July of the following year, Ramsey returned to Cardiff City as a free agent.

Since returning to Cardiff City, Ramsey has played 23 times for the EFL Championship club in all competitions so far, scoring 3 goals.

About Jack Wilshere
