Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has made it clear that there is no intention to sell Nick Waltmades this summer.
Nick Waltermade, 23, mainly plays as a center forward and shadow striker. He is known as the "2-meter Messi" for his 1.98-meter height and delicate footwork. He came from Werder Bremen's youth training and made his debut in the Bundesliga for the first team on February 1, 2020.
In July 2024, Waltermade joined Stuttgart as a free agent. So far, he has played 33 times for Stuttgart, scored 17 goals and provided 3 assists, and won the German Cup in the 2024/25 season with the team.
Due to his recent outstanding performance, Waltermade has been linked with transfers to many European giants this summer, including Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, etc. In response, Fabian Wohlgemuth said in an interview with Kicker: "We are very aware of his importance to the team, and he also understands his value in Stuttgart. We can rest assured that he is an important part of our future plans. Although the outside world believes that Nick's future is uncertain, we have no concerns about whether he will leave Stuttgart."
Waltermade's current contract will last until 2028, and Stuttgart hopes to renew his contract as soon as possible. They have proposed a salary doubling for Waltermade, but preliminary negotiations last week did not produce any results.
Despite this, Wohlgemuth is still confident about renewing Waltermade's contract. He said: "Everything we are discussing now ultimately comes down to recognition of Nick's outstanding growth and how to better reflect this recognition in the new contract. All our starting points are based entirely on the club's own high standards and Stuttgart's consistent philosophy of giving due recognition to special achievements."
