Liverpool Women have officially confirmed that 24-year-old defender Grace Fisk will take over the captaincy and become the team's new leader.

Following Neve Fahey's retirement at the end of last season, Fisk will usher in this new identity before the start of the 2025-26 Women's Super League season.

Talking about being named captain, Fisk could not hide his excitement: "It is a huge honor to be able to serve as captain of Liverpool. When I was told that I would wear the armband, the moment was really unbelievable. I had only just met the coach and he chose me, which meant a lot to me. This is something I did not expect at all."

Regarding replacing Fahy, Fisk said he would not try to imitate, but would find his own way to lead the team: "I don't think I can really fill the vacancy of Neve, but I will lead the team in my own way, support every teammate, and show the fans what this responsibility means to me."

Fisk stressed that Liverpool Women’s has a united and motivated team: “We have very dedicated coaches and players, as well as an experienced leadership team. I look forward to working with everyone on the next journey.”

Since joining from West Ham United in the summer of 2023, Fisk has made 51 appearances for Liverpool, scoring two goals and being voted Player of the Year in her first season. In April this year, she renewed her contract with the team, demonstrating her determination to stay long-term.

Now, as Liverpool's new captain, Fisk will lead the team for the first time in the Women's Premier League opener against Everton at Anfield this Sunday.
