Guardiola says he saw positive things from the team's training performance

Manchester City will travel to Brighton for a key matchday three of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Guardiola said he saw positive signs from the team's training, but stressed that only by keeping clean sheets and consistently delivering impressive performances would he feel the team had regained stability.

In the last round of the league, Manchester City lost to Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 after being scored by the opponent's players in the first half.

Manchester City manager Guardiola told a press conference: "There have been some signs of this in the way we train and play, and I saw things I liked in the games and training in the United States. We have won six Premier League titles in the past eight years, but when the new season starts, we are never sure whether we can win the championship, but I saw things I like."

"There are certainly things I would like to do better, but that's normal at this stage of the season. We're not comparing ourselves to the seasons where we won the title with 100 points, or the quadruple or the fourth consecutive Premier League title."

Guardiola said: "We will definitely lose some games. Before this, I didn't know that I would encounter a low point. But football is not static and it will not always be on the same trajectory."

"I like some things very much, but in two months I might say I was wrong. But I've seen familiar signs since the Club World Cup, things that make a team achieve good results during the season. It doesn't guarantee we'll win the championship, but I like the principles and that's why I'm confident."

In addition, Guardiola also said, "When we can win 4 to 6 games in a row and achieve stable and good performances in different places, then everyone will see the results."

"But the key is to concede fewer goals in the game and create more chances. When we can achieve these performances, I will say that the team's stability is back."
