Hamburg released a statement on Sunday, announcing that former Leipzig Red Bull U18 goalkeeper Fernando Dicks completed the transfer as a free agent. As for the specific contract period, it is still unknown.

Fernando Dix, who is only 17 years old, was born in Halle an der Saale, Germany, and joined the Leipzig Red Bull youth training as a free agent in July 2020. He trained with the Leipzig first team last season and played 26 times for the U19.

According to the official statement, Dix will train with Hamburg's first team from next season and gain practical experience in the youth training team. Regarding his joining, Hamburg's sports director Klaus Costa commented: "Fernando has modern and comprehensive goalkeeping skills and excellent physical conditions. He is a goalkeeper with great development potential.

"Our goalkeeping scouting team has been closely following Fernando's development over the past few years. We are delighted that we have now had the opportunity to sign him and that he has chosen to join Hamburg."

Hamburg sports director Stefan Kunz added: "We believe that Fernando has great room for development and hope to jointly explore and further develop his potential in the future."

Dix said: "I am very happy to continue to improve myself in Hamburg and can't wait to start a new journey." He is looking forward to his new life in Hamburg with great anticipation.
