The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) announced on its official website on Tuesday that Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott, who is currently on-loan at Aston Villa, has been awarded the Special Contribution Award.

According to the PFA's official statement, Elliott, who helped Liverpool win their second Premier League title this summer and then led the England U21s national team to victory in the U21s European Championship, is undoubtedly one of the biggest driving force to the teams' successes.

To recognize his achievements, the PFA decided to award this year's Special Contribution Award to Elliott and encourage young English players to see him as a role model.

It is also worth noting that despite Elliott's undeniable achievements, he has surprisingly not received any playing time while on-loan at Aston Villa.

Elliott has spent eight consecutive matches on the bench in a month, deeply displeasing Liverpool, who initially agreed to loan him out to Villa.

Under the loan agreement, Elliott's £35 million mandatory buy-out clause will be automatically triggered once he makes 10 appearances for Aston Villa.

However, Liverpool has also retained a anti-buyout clause and the right to recall Elliott early.

While Liverpool has not yet decided whether to exercise its right to recall Elliott, The Athletic confirmed last month that the Reds' management had begun to consider the possibility.

During which he has won the Carabao Cup twice, the Premier League once, the FA Cup once, the Community Shield once, the UEFA Super Cup once, the Club World Cup once, and reached the Champions League final once with the club.
