Jarrod Bowen: We have to face the current situation and try to make changes in the next game

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen said after his team lost 1-2 to Leeds United that he and his teammates must cheer up and give their all in the Premier League. In the 90th minute of the game, Jarrod Bowen assisted Mateus Fernandes to score West Ham United's first goal.

However, the goal came too late and had little impact, as early strikes from Brendan Aaronson and Joe Rodon secured all three points for the home team at Elland Road. This result leaves West Ham United in 19th place with only one win and one draw in nine league games. Jarrod Bowen admitted that the team currently faces a tough challenge.

Jarrod Bowen said: "Obviously when a team is second from bottom in the league and has only won one game all season, morale is going to be affected. I think the only way to change that is for the players to step up, show courage, roll up their sleeves and give it their all."

"It's easier said than done. We have to do it every week, it's the only way. I told the players that they have to give it their all now, no one in the Premier League will give you anything easily."

"We have to face reality and achieve real results. We have always been able to do it in the past, but we are not performing well at the moment, so we have to change the status quo. Although there is smooth communication within the team and everyone has open dialogue, I think real change must come from the heart. The players have the desire, but the results show that we are not enough. We must turn things around."

West Ham United next face Newcastle United and Burnley at home. England international Jarrod Bowen is focused on getting a positive result and will be hoping to gain some momentum at the London Stadium.

Jarrod Bowen added: "I thought we started well against Brentford and we were hoping to replicate a similar performance here. But the way we defended their first goal was terrible. We almost got one back when we had our chances but then conceded from a corner, which was very disappointing."

"We thought a goal would give us a confidence boost, but it was ruled out. We did score a goal in the end, but it was too little too late and everyone was frustrated. As I said, we have to understand and accept the situation and work hard to change it. We have two home games coming up and we haven't performed well at home in the past. But now is the time to give our all and win over the fans."
