Joao Pedro: I'm happy to score at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea defeated Serie A giants AC Milan 4-1 in a friendly at home thanks to goals from Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. Joao Pedro expressed his joy at scoring for the team at Stamford Bridge.

Five minutes into the match, Reece James took a free kick, and AC Milan defender Andre Kubis accidentally kicked the ball into his own goal, giving Chelsea a 1-0 lead. In the 8th minute, Pedro Neto dribbled into the penalty area and then lobbed the ball in front of the goal, which Joao Pedro headed in to help Chelsea extend their lead to 2-0.

In the 18th minute, Joao Pedro was pulled down by Andre Kubis, and the referee showed Andre Kubis a red card for this. AC Milan could only hold on with 10 players.

In the 67th minute of the second half, Estevão was brought down by an opposing player while attempting to receive the ball, prompting a penalty kick to be awarded to Chelsea. Liam Delap then converted the penalty kick, extending Chelsea's lead to 3-0. In the 70th minute, Youssef Fofana volleyed home a pass from Salemax into the box, securing a 1-3 lead for AC Milan.

In the 90th minute, Andre Santos passed the ball from the top of the penalty area and Liam Delap pushed the ball into the goal. In the end, Chelsea defeated AC Milan 4-1.

Joao Pedro, 23, joined Chelsea in July and helped Chelsea win the 2025 Club World Cup with a goal.

Joao Pedro said in an interview, "I am very happy to score at Stamford Bridge, scoring two goals in two games. I really enjoyed this pre-season. We must rest well and continue training, and then make a good start in the new Premier League season."

Speaking about new signing Liam Delap, who also scored, Joao Pedro said: "If we can all maintain a high level, it will be good for Chelsea. Liam Delap didn't score in the last game, but he scored two goals in this game. I am very happy for him."

On the other hand, Chelsea will host Crystal Palace, which won the Community Shield, at home in the first round of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Chelsea captain Reece James said: "We ended last season with two titles and the atmosphere at the club is great. We have had a difficult period in the past two years, but we have come a long way. Everyone is excited about this season and we believe we are in a good position. We are full of confidence because we are the world champions."

"We are Chelsea, a team that should be at the top of the Premier League and challenging for titles. We will do everything we can this season to win trophies and compete against the best."
